  • Mystery Crime Novelist Richard Castle Defuses a Dirty Bomb

    After yesterday’s events, bestselling novelist Richard Castle can add “bomb defuser” to his long list of accomplishments. Castle has been shadowing NYPD’s Detective Kate Beckett for the last couple of years. What began as research for his series of Nikki Heat novels became an unlikely partnership between a writer and a police detective. They have caught and convicted many murderers since they joined forces, but this week they were confronted by a much larger challenge. A murder case they were investigating lead to the discovery of a terrorist plot to detonate a bomb in the middle of Manhattan. Moments before detonation, Castle was able to use his writer ingenuity and sheer bravado to diffuse the bomb, saving the city from disaster and destruction. The Mayor has offered to give both Detective Beckett and Castle a key to the city as well as a medal of honor for their service to New York. Read More >>

  • Production Begins on Heat Wave the Movie

    The feature film based on Richard Castle’s bestseller, Heat Wave, is about to begin production in Los Angeles. Castle based this first novel in the Nikki Heat series on NYPD’s own Detective Kate Beckett. He has been following Detective Beckett for a couple years now and has drawn on their cases to write his two most recent bestsellers. With the success of Heat Wave,, the studios were clamoring for the movie rights. Spike Rosenberg adapted a feature script and casting began last fall. Many actresses vied for the role of Nikki Heat but Castle was very particular in choosing the perfect woman to embody the character based on his muse. Read More >>

    Like most writers, I indulge in a healthy meditative practice known as procrastination. Some people consider it an act of avoidance, but for me procrastination is a vital artistic process.  In fact, procrastination creates the adrenalin rush I need to write effectively.
